Prof. Rüdiger von Groll is of counsel in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery Rechtsanwälte Steuerberater LLP based in its Munich office. He is a member of the Tax Department, where his practice focuses on tax litigation, procedural law, general tax law and turnover tax law (including EC Directive No. 6).
Prior to joining the Firm, Rüdiger served as of counsel at Raupach & Wollert-Elmendorff Rechtsanwaltsgesellchaft mbH, the legal arm of Deloitte & Touche in Germany. He was appointed as judge at the Supreme Tax Court in 1986.
Rüdiger is co-author of, amongst other things, Gräber, Commentary on Tax Court Regulation; Kirchhof/Söhn, Commentary on Income Tax Law; and Hübschmann/Hepp/Spitaler, Commentary on the Tax Code. Rüdiger is Professor for tax law at the University of Munich and for comparative tax law at the University of Bologna/Italy.
He is a member of the Scientific Council of the German Tax Law Society and a member of the Advisory Council of the Union for the Exchange of Views between German and Italian Lawyers.
Rüdiger was admitted to the Bar in 1966 in Tübingen.
