Richard Schotte is currently retired after a career in investment management. He was briefly at Manufacturers Hanover Trust in New York before spending ten years with the investment division of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance, where he was a venture capitalist and later managed the company’s marketable bond operations. After MassMutual, Mr. Schotte spent twenty years as a fixed-income portfolio manager in Los Angeles with Capital Group, whose subsidiary Capital Research and Management Company manages mutual funds under the name The American Funds Group. He was also a portfolio manager of pension and endowment accounts for Capital Guardian Trust Company, a sister company. The years that he was at Capital Group were ones of spectacular growth. The firm currently has more than a trillion dollars of assets under management. |
