Dr. Norbert Schulte is a partner in the Corporate Department and Real Estate Group of McDermott Will & Emery and is based in the Düsseldorf office. He advises on all aspects of corporate real estate law, including mergers and acquisitions, cross-border real estate transactions, real estate investment banking, real estate transaction finance, privatizations, real estate outsourcing, joint ventures and project development, and in particular in the following areas:
Real estate investment banking as well as general real estate and project finance (including mortgage-based financing, leasing, sale-and-lease-back, securitization of cash-flows, real estate investment banking etc.);
Corporate real estate law, including structuring of real property holding companies (SPVs), joint ventures, project development companies etc;
Structuring of open-ended and closed-ended real estate funds;
Acquisition and disposal of large real estate portfolios;
Commercial lease agreements and facility management agreements;
Real estate outsourcing and off-balance sheet structures;
Privatization of state-owned real estate; and
Project development.
Norbert has vast experience in complex cross-border mergers and acquisitions as well as international real estate transactions. He represented large U.S. and European real estate investment funds, investment banks and other financial institutions as well as real estate developers in a number of real estate transactions and project developments across Germany and Europe, especially regarding hotels and office buildings.
Norbert has published numerous articles in the field of corporate and corporate real estate law. He is the co-author of a standard treatise on corporate and tax law aspects of joint venture companies. He is also a co-author of one of the leading German handbooks on Corporate Law (Münchener Handbuch des Gesellschaftsrechts).
Norbert frequently speaks at seminars on real estate transactions and joint ventures. Prior to joining McDermott, Norbert worked for seven years in the corporate real estate department in a leading international law firm.
Norbert is admitted to practice as Rechtsanwalt in Germany. He is a member of the German-American Lawyers Association. He is fluent in German, English and Polish and speaks Russian and French.
