Mr. Archibald is Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of The Black & Decker Corporation. Black & Decker is a leading global manufacturer and marketer of power tools and accessories (Black & Decker and DeWalt brands), hardware and home improvement products (Kwikset, Baldwin, Weiser, and Price Pfister brands), and fastening and assembly systems (Emhart brand). In 1985 he joined Black & Decker as President, Chief Operating Officer and Director, and in 1986 became the youngest Chief Executive Officer of a Fortune 500 company. He was elected to the additional post of Chairman in December 1986.
Mr. Archibald held various management positions between 1977 and 1985 at prior-employer, Beatrice Companies, Inc. These culminated with his appointment as corporate Senior Vice President and, eventually, as President of Beatrice’s $1.7 billion Consumer Durables Group. During his tenure as President of that Group, it became one of the fastest growing and most profitable segments of Beatrice.
Mr. Archibald is also a member of the Board of Directors of Huntsman Corporation and Lockheed Martin Corporation. He is a recipient of the American Marketing Association's Edison Achievement Award for significant and lasting contributions to marketing excellence and product innovation.
An All-American basketball player in college, Mr. Archibald graduated from Weber State University in Utah and holds a master's degree in business administration from the Harvard Graduate School of Business. |
