Mr. Weisbard's practice concentrates in the areas of estate planning, probate, taxation and employee benefits. His estate planning work includes providing tax advice and estate planning documents for United States citizens who are residing abroad and foreign nationals who have property interests in the United States. Many of the estate planning clients he has represented are owners of closely held businesses, and he regularly advises them as to corporate and individual tax matters, and prepares buy-sell and stock transfer restriction agreements, and employment contracts. His probate work has included numerous disputes relating to will and trust administration and construction, including will contests.
In addition, Mr. Weisbard works extensively with both qualified and non-qualified employee benefit plans for both closely held businesses and large corporations. He has worked with numerous companies on the drafting and implementation of welfare plans and qualified defined benefit and defined contribution plans, including ESOPs. He also consults frequently on tax issues concerning plan administration, qualification and termination, and advises both sellers and buyers on the effects of mergers and acquisitions on their employee benefit plans. |
