Mark Hinkle is a long-time open source expert and advocate. He is a co-founder of both the Open Source Management Consortium and the Desktop Linux Consortium. He has served as Editor-in-Chief for both LinuxWorld Magazine and Enterprise Open Source Magazine. He is also the author of the book, "Windows to Linux Business Desktop Migration." (Thomson, 2006)Over the past 10 years Mark has held executive positions at a various technology start-ups. At Earthlink (previously MindSpring) he was the head of the award-winning technical support organization recognized by PC Computing and PC World as the best in the industry. He has held executive roles (CIO, VP of Business Development) with Linux virtualization software provider, Win4Lin. As the VP of Strategy at Emu Software he executed the release of their configuration software, NetDirector, under an open source license.Mark holds a BS degree in Management from York College of Pennsylvania. He has also completed undergraduate work in Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, where he was a founding father of the University of Pittsburgh Rugby Football Club.Mark is an active blogger on his open source technology blog, SocializedSoftware. |
