Mark A. Bedner is currently employed with The Sea Island Company in the real estate development area. Previously, he was a Partner and Director of WNB Partners, an Atlanta real estate investment firm, and Vice Chairman of Legacy following the sale of the Merchant Bank of Atlanta to BankSouth Corporation. Mark co-founded the Merchant Bank and served as its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Prior to that, Mark spent 15 years in various senior investment and commercial banking positions, including serving as President of the Habersham Group, Vice President of Prudential Capital Corporation, Vice President of Bank of America and as a national and international banking officer with Citicorp/Citibank. Mark currently serves as Chairman of the Glynn County Commission representing Sea Island and St. Simons Island, Georgia. He has served as a Trustee of the Children's Museum of Atlanta and the Plum Orchard Foundation of Cumberland Island. He has also served as a Director of the Midtown Alliance and Emory University's Brain Tumor Foundation for Children. He was the founder and past President of The Atlanta Forum and is a member of the Capital City Club, Ocean Forest Golf Club and Sea Island Club. Mr. Bedner holds a BA in International Relations and American Studies, and an MS in Journalism from the University of Kansas; He also holds an MA in International Business Law from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts/Harvard Universities. |
