Lance Conn is Vulcan's executive vice president of investment management - overseeing Vulcan Capital and the diverse multibillion investment portfolio of Vulcan Inc. He sits on the boards of Charter Communications, Oxygen Media and Digeo.
Conn began his career as an attorney with the Shaw Pittman law firm in Washington, D.C., and joined America Online in 1996, where he worked in various legal and business development roles supporting AOL's rapid growth. In early 2000, he moved to London to supervise all of AOL's European investments, alliances and business initiatives and to facilitate the integration of AOL and Time Warner's European businesses.
In 2002, after helping guide AOL Europe to profitability, Conn returned to AOL's headquarters in Virginia, where he led reorganization of its business affairs and development group and then led a company-wide effort to restructure and optimize all of AOL's operations. That operations initiative included overhauling the company's major business units and revamping the operating plan for the company.
The effort has generated incremental earnings of hundreds of millions of dollars for AOL to date, and has played a critical role in the company's ongoing turnaround. Conn holds a J.D. from the University of Virginia, a master's degree in history from the University of Mississippi and an A.B. in history from Princeton University. |
