Experience:
Frank Henneburg practices real estate law, including the representation of domestic and foreign institutional investors and lenders on a wide array of real estate matters. His extensive experience includes the acquisition of all property types and the representation of both borrowers and lenders in single-property and portfolio loans. Although a general real estate lawyer, he has significant experience in buying and financing hotels.
Frank has been called "brilliant" in recent press reports, which added that "no matter what the deal is, Frank's done it. He understands the business side of the deal" (Chambers USA 2007). He is also listed in Chambers USA among America's Leading Lawyers for Business, and he is listed among The Best Lawyers of America. Frank joined Mayer Brown in 2005 after working for several other major Washington, DC law firms.
Notable Engagements:
Represented a joint venture between domestic and foreign investors in the $1 billion acquisition of a public REIT owning 63 limited-service hotels.
Represented a private REIT in a joint venture with a major apartment developer to acquire and develop $1.4 billion of luxury high-rise apartments on a 20-acre site in Arlington, Virginia.
Represented a private REIT in the $214 million acquisition of a hotel and retail project in Washington, DC.
Represented a private REIT in the $160 million acquisition of three luxury hotels in Washington, DC and Chicago.
Represented an institutional lender in a $215 million revolving credit loan secured by 24 hotels in 10 states.
Represented a life insurance company in a $100 million loan secured by 16 industrial warehouse facilities in 7 states.
Represented a private REIT in the $113 million acquisition of a luxury apartment project in Reston, Virginia.
Counseled several private equity funds and public retirement systems in the evaluation of hotel investments in major US cities.
Represented an investment bank in the financing of over $1 billion in annual loan originations secured by first mortgages on office, retail, industrial and apartment properties in Washington, DC, Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania; single transactions ranged from $40 million to $150 million.
