Dr. Bauer has been a member of Medgenics’ Board since 2001. He is a Lucy Becker professor, Emeritus, in the School of Medicine at Stanford University. Dr. Bauer served as Dean of the Stanford University School of Medicine from 1995-2001 and additionally as Vice President for Medical Affairs of Stanford University from 1997-2001. He was Chair of the Department of Dermatology at the Stanford University School of Medicine from 1988-1995. He is also a co-founder and until 2005 emeritus member of the Board of Directors of Connetics Corp. (NASDAQ: CNCT), a dermatology-focused therapeutics company that was acquired by Stiefel Laboratories in 2006. Dr. Bauer is currently Chief Executive Officer of Neosil, Inc., a privately held dermatology development stage company. He serves on the Boards of Directors of of Protalex, Inc. (OTC.BB: PRTX), Peplin Biotech, Ltd. (ASX: Peplin), and of two private companies, Neosil, Inc., and Arbor Vita Corp.
Dr. Bauer was an NIH-funded investigator for 25 years, served on review groups for the NIH, and served as a member of the Board of Scientific Counsellors of the National Cancer Institute and the Advisory Council for the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases. He is also a member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences.
