Experience: Don has been associated with Goodman & Company since 1976. Prior to joining us, Don worked on the professional staff of an international CPA firm for several years. Don works with a variety of small and medium size businesses including advertising agencies, contractors, mortgage companies, and a large number of real estate related entities. He also devotes a significant amount of his time to working with not-for-profit organizations and municipal authorities, boards and commissions. Not-for-profits & Governmental Experience Don is currently Partner-in-Charge of our audit engagements with the Virginia Beach Community Development Corporation, the City of Chesapeake''s Industrial Development, and Airport, Authorities, Hampton Roads Regional Jail Authority, and the Western Tidewater Regional Jail Authority. He is also responsible for our audits of the United Way of South Hampton Roads, Tidewater Builders Association and Tidewater Regional Group Home Commission. Don has been responsible for compliance testing and preparation of financial statements in accordance with applicable regulatory guidelines and for the review and approval of cost allocation plans in accordance with relevant Office of Management and Budget Circulars. Real Estate Experience: In addition to providing traditional accounting and tax services to clients, Don has developed substantial expertise working with members of the real estate industry such as land developers, office building owners/operators, residential property contractors, apartment project syndicators and contractors, and sales agencies. He has assisted clients in structuring syndications as a means of financing commercial projects and land development with successful submissions of applications for Low Income Housing Credits. Don has also been responsible for performing compliance work and preparing financial statements in accordance with HUD, VHDA, FHA, and other outside regulatory agencies.
