Yasunori Yokote is President & Chief Executive Officer of Mitsui & Co. (U.S.A.), Inc. (Mitsui USA), and serves concurrently as an Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Americas Business Unit of Mitsui & Co., Ltd., Mitsui USA's parent company in Tokyo. Just prior to his arrival in New York in April 2007, Mr. Yokote was Mitsui & Co.’s Executive Director, Chief Compliance Officer and Senior Executive Managing Officer in charge of the Corporate Staff Sector.Mr. Yokote joined Mitsui & Co. in 1970 with a degree in Economics from the University of Tokyo, and has built his career mainly in the steel products business area, which makes up a significant portion of the company's trade and investment activities globally. Previously, he served in overseas posts three times, in: Teheran with Mitsui & Co. Iran Ltd. (1986-88); New York with Mitsui USA as Assistant to its Executive Vice President and concurrently as President of the Mitsui Steel Development Company (1990-95); and Jakarta as the Chief Representative in Indonesia of Mitsui & Co., Ltd. and President of P.T. Mitsui Indonesia (2002-04).In New York, Mr. Yokote is engaged in leadership roles in various business and cultural organizations, including: The Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of New York, Inc.(President); The Nippon Club; Japanese Educational Institute of New York; Japan Society; Partnership for New York City; Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, New York Philharmonic; Asian Artists & Concerts, Inc.; Museum for African Art; The Metropolitan Museum of Art; International House; and The Weissman Center for International Business of Baruch College, CUNY. |
