Wolfgang Bersch joined Boyden after heading, for seven years, his own consulting company in executive search, data processing and value engineering, which he merged with Boyden in 1983. Bersch specializes in general management and board positions without focusing on specific industries. Bersch started his professional career in sales and marketing with Colgate Palmolive in Germany and was then sent to Finland to act as General Manager for Colgate Palmolive Oy, Helsinki, the Finnish subsidiary. Returning from Finland to Germany, he became Director of Sales with Gillette, where he launched new products of blades and toiletries on the German market.
The next stage in his career took him to a daughter company of Oetker in Hameln as General Manager before being called to Deutsche Brau AG, Frankfurt, as a member of the management board. He was specifically responsible for the sales and marketing strategies and policies of six German breweries, which were also distributors for PepsiCo., and whose annual turnover approached DM 1 billion. Before establishing his own consulting company in 1976 he was General Manager of Dura Tufting GmbH, Fulda.
