William J. Merritt became a director of InterDigital in May 2005 coincident with his appointment as Chief Executive Officer and President of the company. Since July 2001 Mr. Merritt led InterDigital's patent licensing efforts serving as President of InterDigital Technology Corporation and General Patent Counsel. Mr. Merritt joined InterDigital as Vice President Law in 1996. He was promoted to Senior Vice President and General Counsel in 1998 and in 1999 to Executive Vice President. He graduated from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1980 where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He earned his J.D. degree from Temple University in 1987. Currently Mr. Merritt holds admissions in the States of Pennsylvania and New York the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York The U.S. Court of Appeals (11th Circuit) and the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. Mr. Merritt serves on the Board of Directors for AmberWave Systems Corporation a privately-held developer of intellectual property relating to strained silicon and other advanced material technologies for the semiconductor industry. |
