Bill Lehane, of counsel in the firm's Intellectual Property and Commercial Litigation Practice Groups, has varied his practice to mirror the changing pattern of civil litigation since the mid-1970s and includes a long-term emphasis on intellectual property law.
Intellectual Property. Bill has been an invaluable member of the IP law team since 1974. He has dealt with trademark and copyright matters both in litigation and as an adviser to clients. In this latter role, he has also advised clients on major patent litigation issues. Bill has handled cases for computer hardware and software developers, suppliers and users. Recently, the majority of his work has focused on trademark prosecution, advice and counseling for a large, national retailer.
Insurance Coverage. Bill has been involved for a number of years in the field of business insurance coverage disputes. He has litigated cases dealing with directors' and officers' liability coverage, fiduciary responsibility coverage and bankers' blanket bonds. In one lengthy, multidistrict case growing out of the Savings and Loan scandal, he successfully prosecuted a declaratory judgment action on behalf of the fiduciary responsibility carrier and defended a multimillion dollar claim for contribution by the general liability carrier.
Securities Litigation. Bill has litigated a number of major class action securities cases for a variety of defendants, including representing a large, public accounting firm in a number of cases.
In General. Bill is a member of the American Bar Association's Sections on Intellectual Property Law and the International Trademark Association. |
