Dr. William G. Howard, Jr. is an independent consultant engineer with clients in microelectronics and technology-based business planning areas. Prior to beginning his consulting practice, Dr. Howard served the National Academy of Engineering as a Senior Fellow from October 1987 to December 1990. While at the Academy he was on leave from Motorola, Inc. His Academy duties focused on studies of factors affecting the competitivenessof private industry, especially realization of new products.
Dr. Howard joined Motorola's integrated circuits operation in 1969 as Manager of Linear Integrated Circuits Research. He served in a variety of technical and business management positions within the company's semiconductor and corporate organizations. His most recent assignment was as Senior Vice President and Director of Research and Development for the corporation.
Dr. Howard is a graduate of Cornell University and the University of California, Berkeley, where he served as Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences. He is co-author of Basic Integrated Circuits Engineering (published in 1976) and of Profiting from Innovation (published in 1992) and holds several patents. Dr. Howard is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Engineers and of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. |
