Wendell Wierenga, Ph.D. has served as a Director of the Company since December 1996. Since September 2003, Dr. Wierenga has served as Executive Vice President, Research and Development of Neurocrine Biosciences, Inc., a biotechnology company. From September 2000 to August 2003, Dr. Wierenga served as the Chief Executive Officer of Syrrx, Inc., a biotechnology company. From February 1999 to August 2000, Dr. Wierenga served as Senior Vice President, Worldwide Pharmaceutical Sciences, Technologies and Development for the Parke-Davis Pharmaceutical Research division of Warner-Lambert Company, a subsidiary of Pfizer Inc., and from 1990 to February 1999 as Senior Vice President of Research of Parke-Davis. Dr. Wierenga served as Vice President of Medtech Ventures of Warner-Lambert, a pharmaceutical company, from 1992 to 2000. Dr. Wierenga serves on the board of directors of Syrrx, Inc., Ciphergen Biosystems, Inc. and XenoPort, Inc. Dr. Wierenga holds a B.A. from Hope College and a Ph.D. in chemistry from Stanford University. |
