Dr. Val Gavito is Senior Vice President of Technology & Strategic Development at L-3 Integrated Systems (L-3 IS). He is responsible for Integrated Systems group engineering and Information Technologies, engineering research and development, and strategic positioning through the identification and demonstration of advanced technology concepts. Comprised of over 2,800 scientists, engineers, technicians, and Information Technology professionals, L-3 IS engineering and technology expertise spans design, development, and integration of advanced avionics, special purpose airborne systems and aircraft modernization for government and commercial customers worldwide. Prior to his current position, Gavito held management positions including Vice President, Engineering & Strategic Initiatives and Vice President, Advanced Programs and Business Development responsible for outlining business growth objectives and development of advanced programs and technologies which support IS business development. Previous to that position, Dr. Gavito was Director of Advanced Programs and Technology, responsible for development of advanced technology concepts, guiding the development of technology and systems architectural strategies for positioning the company for network centric C2ISR. Previous to that position, he was Director of Engineering Product Development, responsible for R&D and engineering product development of RF/Digital avionics and sensor systems. Prior to product leadership position, he was Director of Surveillance Systems, responsible for all business unit operations with core technologies in microwave interferometers, RF and digital receivers, antennas, and antenna array systems. Prior to that position, he was Manager, Special Programs where he was responsible for marketing and execution of contract research and development focusing on advanced antenna products. Dr. Gavito has led research and development planning and assessments of technologies ranging from advanced signal processing to advanced microelectronics packaging. He has additional project management experience in the integration of spacecraft aboard expendable launch vehicles, in the integration of space science experiments aboard manned and unmanned vehicles, and in the development of ATE software. |
