Uwe-Ernst Bufe has more than 27 years working in the chemical industry and is an active member of various international councils and supervisory boards. During his career he held the position of president and chief executive officer at Degussa and Degussa-Hüls AG where he spent most of his career in the United States Asia and Europe. Before joining the executive board of Degussa AG in 1987 he was executive vice president of its U.S. subsidiary. After the company's merger with Hüls he accepted the role of president and chief executive officer of Degussa-Hüls AG. Bufe studied Chemistry at the Technical University in Munich where he received his Ph.D. in metal-organic chemistry. He is a member of the American Chemical Society the Society of the Chemical Industry and the Council of German Chemists. |
