Ms. Morelli serves as a Government Relations Specialist in the Hartford Office. Her primary focus is representing clients before the Connecticut General Assembly, as well as state and local regulatory agencies. Ms. Morelli is a registered lobbyist, representing clients in the energy, entertainment, gaming, health care and automotive industries. In addition, she concentrates on local and state government procurements and is responsible for client management and development of legislative strategies.
Ms. Morelli began her political involvement in 1997 as an assistant to the deputy majority leader of the Connecticut House of Representatives and later served as a campaign coordinator for several legislators during the 1998 elections.
Recent Matters
o Actively pursued legislation to establish parity within the nursing profession and to ensure quality of healthcare. In 1999 assisted in amending the Nurse Practice Act to allow Advanced Practice Registered Nurses' to practice independently.
o Represented a major power industry client during negotiations with lawmakers and officials from the State Departments of Public Utility Control and Environmental Protection in drafting legislation to address Connecticut's air quality and power supply concerns.
o Currently involved in securing state and federal funding for a major developer for the redevelopment of a Capitol City historical landmark.
o Represented automobile manufacturers before the Connecticut General Assembly's joint committees on General Law and Judiciary regarding the modification of commercial leasing laws, as well as advocacy for Connecticut's adoption of Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code.
o Successfully worked to preserve the automobile leasing industry in Connecticut by passing legislation that would exempt captive financing companies from Connecticut's vicarious liability laws.
o Represented the major beer manufacturer on issues before the Connecticut General Assembly and the Department of Consumer Protection's Liquor Control Division. Issues ranged from underage drinking, driving while intoxicated laws, inter-state commerce, taxation, advertising and franchise laws.
o Continues to work to assure that the Bureau of Indian Affairs decision as to federal recognition of a Native American tribe is not subsequently undermined by state legislation. |
