Tony Shen

Tony Shen is a Senior Consultant in the Strategy Practice of Astute Diligence.

Tony is an accomplished entrepreneur and corporate strategist with ten years experience serving various consultancies, start-up firms, growth companies, and venture capital firms.

In addition to serving as an affiliated consultant to Astute Diligence, Tony currently provides strategic counsel to numerous startups, including an educational software company focused on foreign language training and a biotechnology startup company.

Previously, Tony served as Director of Operations and Market Development for BestOffer.com Inc., an Internet marketplace for pre-owned cars. In this position, Tony was responsible for regional business development, human resources, marketing, and finance. Prior to Bestoffer.com, Tony worked at Mellon Ventures, where he was involved with the evaluation and execution of venture capital investments. In this capacity, Tony performed in-depth financial and competitive analysis and due diligence on proposed investments targeting various technology and internet markets.

Before working at Mellon Ventures, Tony worked as a Senior Operations Research Analyst for Trillium Digital Systems, a telecomm software company, where he conducted corporate strategic planning and operations projects for the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer. Among other initiatives, Tony revised and managed the company's financial model in preparation for an IPO or sale of the company. These efforts culminated in the sale of the company to Intel for $300 million in cash and stock.

In addition, Tony has spent time consulting in the field of international management, principally at the Pacific Rim Consulting Group in Hong Kong where he assisted U.S. and European companies in establishing and executing plans to enter Asian markets, and has worked as an economics analyst for Economics Resource Group, a consulting firm based in Massachusetts.

Tony received an MBA degree with high distinction (Dean's Fellowship, Anderson Business Honor Society, Patrick J. Welsh Fellowship) from The Anderson School at UCLA. He holds an AB degree in Economics, magna cum laude, from Harvard University.
