Tom Pitegoff, the firm's founder, left the New York office of Hunton & Williams in 1989 to establish his own law practice in White Plains . Tom has the highest rating available from Martindale-Hubbell. He is listed in Who's Who Legal: The International Who's Who of Business Lawyers (London 2005). He is also listed in Who's Who in American Law.
Tom is a member of the ExecutiveCommittee of the New York State Bar Association's Business Law Section and chair of the legislation subcommittee of the section's Franchise, Licensing and Distribution Law Committee. Tom is a panelist for the CPR, the International Institute for Conflict Prevention and Resolution, serving as an ICANN arbitrator for domain name disputes and as a franchise mediator. He is the former Co-Chair of the International Subcommittee of the American Bar Association Business Law Section's Cyberspace Law Committee (1998-2000), a former member of the Governing Committee of the ABA 's Forum on Franchising (1993-1996), and a former Associate Editor of the ABA Franchise Law Journal (1990-1993). He is a former member of the Computer Law Committee of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York .
Tom's clients over the years have included companies of all sizes, from major corporations to startup companies, and foreign companies doing business in the U.S. Tom's clients have included Ricola, Seven-Up, Philip Morris, Footstar, Sumitomo Corporation of America, Bimbo Bakeries, Descamps, ICE Currency Services and Bruno Magli.
Tom received his law degree in 1976 from Syracuse University College of Law, where he was an editor of Syracuse Law Review, a research assistant and a legal research and writing instructor. Tom holds a bachelor of arts degree from Sarah Lawrence College (1971). He is a member of the New York Bar. |
