After majoring in mathematics and statistics, Hagemann graduated from the University of Missouri, Columbia and began teaching mathematics at his alma mater while working on his masters. He left academia for IBM, where he consistently grew year-to-year revenues while receiving numerous sales and quality of management national awards. Hagemann's formal business education includes a condensed MBA program at Harvard University.
