Tom R. Sperring, Sr., Chairman of the Board and CEO, founded C&S and its forerunner, C&S Chemical Company in 1966. As a nursery inspector with the Florida Department of Agriculture, Tom Sperring founded the small family company to supplement his family income. Thirty-nine years later, this small family company has grown into a successful service corporation that employs over 500 people all in the State of Florida. Today, the C&S Corporation consists of three divisions: C&S Bridge Division, C&S Janitorial and Landscape Maintenance Division, and C&S Security Division. During the past 20 years, Tom Sperring has administered Florida Department of Transportation contracts in all sections of Florida, most recently as Project manager for moveable bridges in St. Johns and Duval Counties. Tom Sperring and C&S have provided bridgetending services for bridges in Districts I, II, IV, V, VI, and VII and many other locations as subcontractor for various bridge rehabilitation projects. Tom Sperring knows, understands, and appreciates the complexities of safe bridge operations. He already has in place the experienced personnel and procedures required for safe and efficient drawbridge operations. Tom Sperring provides leadership and guidance to the various managers and supervisors as needed. Mr. Sperring has over the past ten years, worked with the Florida Department of Transportation to improve the status of our bridge tenders, whom he has always believed are the key element in safe bridge operations. Mr. Sperring asked for a living wage for bridge tenders and safe and workable bridge houses. As of this date, most of his request has been accomplished. There is, however, much more to do. |
