Timothy McKeown Biography :

A member of the firm, Timothy P. McKeown concentrates his practice on civil and commercial litigation with an emphasis on real estate related matters. Tim has extensive experience handling matters involving commercial lease disputes, real estate contract disputes, unscrupulous contractors, construction liens, title issues, consumer fraud claims, and commercial equipment leasing on behalf of his clients, which experience includes pretrial procedure, trials and appellate practice in state and federal courts. He has argued civil appeals before the Appellate Division of the New Jersey Superior Court and the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.

Tim handles leasing and related disputes on behalf of commercial landlords and tenants. He recognizes the value in trying to resolve disputes short of litigation. For those clients who seek an amicable resolution before resorting to litigation, Tim makes every effort to get the matter resolved quickly and in a cost-effective manner. Where an amicable resolution is not possible, Tim zealously advocates his client’s cause in court. He has successfully prosecuted and defended scores of cases throughout his career on behalf of commercial landlords and tenants. Some of the issues Tim has dealt with include failure to pay rent, abandonment of leased premises, eminent domain, mold contamination, site contamination, lease condemnation, and illegal use of premises by tenants. Tim also has related litigation experience representing his clients in Bankruptcy Court against tenants and debtors who seek protection in that forum. Tim represents clients in real estate related contract disputes on both the seller’s and buyer’s side of the table. He counsels homeowners and businesses in connection with building contract disputes, including a client’s rights and responsibilities under New Jersey’s Construction Lien Law. In addition to his real estate related litigation practice, Tim represents a major commercial equipment leasing company. He is responsible for protecting his client’s contractual rights against defaulting debtors, which includes seeking court orders compelling the debtor to return liened equipment, obtaining money judgments against defaulting debtors, and enforcing judgments against debtors in order to effectuate a full recovery in favor of the client.
