Tim Houpt has more than 25 years of experience representing individuals and businesses in lawsuits before administrative agencies, federal and state courts, and in mediations and arbitrations. He has broad litigation experience in the areas of franchising, insurance and personal injury, intellectual property, securities fraud and commercial disputes. Other attorneys often select Tim to mediate their cases, allowing him to assist others in reasonably resolving their disputes and, in turn, enhancing his skills at representing his own clients. He was listed in "Best Lawyers in America" the 2007-2008 editions, "Utah Business Magazine’s 2008 Legal Elite", as well as in the 2007 "Super Lawyers" for personal injury.
Tim was born in Danville, Illinois, and received a B.A. from Northwestern University in 1972. He graduated from the University of Utah College of Law in 1977, and served as a law clerk for Chief United States District Judge Willis Ritter. He has served as an adjunct professor of trial advocacy at the University of Utah College of Law, and as president of the Watkiss Sutherland Inn of the American Inns of Court. He has been active in community and nonprofit organizations throughout his practice, serving the community in many capacities. |
