Tim Mackey is an associate based in Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP's Tokyo office and is a member of the Global Corporate team.
Tim's experience includes representing a number of Japan's major utilities in relation to the acquisition of both majority and minority interests in a range of different types of power assets, including coal, geothermal and wind. Tim also works with local counsel to provide post acquisition advice with regards to ongoing corporate issues related to such acquisitions. Over the past few years, Tim has also been involved in numerous transactions in fields as diverse as the acquisition by a large U.S. private equity fund of a majority interest in a Japanese biochemical company, negotiating theme park licenses, and numerous merger applications to anti-trust authorities.
Tim also assists in representing JBIC and a number of commercial banks in relation to their financing of several power projects throughout Asia.
Prior to law school, Tim spent nearly ten years working in Japan for a number of Japanese companies, including a secondment to Honda Motors Inc. and as a Marketing and Planning Manager at Fukuoka Dome Inc., a large hotel and sports/entertainment complex in Fukuoka, Japan. Tim's tertiary education includes a BA in Japanese from Auckland University in 1992, and post-graduate study in Japanese literature at Kumamoto University as a Monbusho Research Scholar.
Tim completed his LLB (Honours) at the University of Auckland in Auckland, New Zealand and attended Monbusho Research Scholarship, Kumamoto University in Japan.
He is admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand.
Tim is fluent to native level in both written and spoken Japanese. |
