Tim Griffin is General Counsel and Managing Director of Mercury Public Affairs and operates MPA’s Little Rock office.Mr. Griffin brings a unique perspective to MPA, drawing upon his experience at the highest levels of government and presidential politics where he excelled in a number of disciplines, including law, communications, research and management. Prior to joining Mercury, Mr. Griffin served as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas, a District that includes 41 of Arkansas’s 75 counties and the cities of Little Rock, Jonesboro and Pine Bluff. During his tenure, in addition to federal criminal prosecutions, the U.S. Attorney’s Office (USAO) provided outreach and training in rural counties and provided federal civil rights law training to law enforcement and community leaders.Mr. Griffin is currently serving in his 11th year as an officer in the U.S. Army Reserve, Judge Advocate General's (JAG) Corps and holds the rank of Major. He was mobilized to active duty in 2005 as an Army prosecutor at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and served with the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) in Mosul, Iraq, for which he was awarded the Combat Action Badge. In active duty, Mr. Griffin served as Special Assistant to the President and Deputy Director, Office of Political Affairs at the White House. In that capacity, he advised President Bush and Vice-President Cheney and organized and coordinated support for the President’s agenda, including the nomination of Judge Roberts to U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice.From 2001-2002, Mr. Griffin served as an appointee at the U.S. Department of Justice where he was Special Assistant to the Assistant Attorney General, Michael Chertoff, the Criminal Division Chief. In the summer of 2001, AAG Chertoff granted Mr. Griffin a detail as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Arkansas in Little Rock. While in Little Rock, Mr. Griffin prosecuted a variety of federal cases with an emphasis on firearm and drug cases. He also organized the Eastern District’s Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), the Bush Administration's initiative to reduce firearm-related violence by promoting close cooperation between state and federal law enforcement, and served as the PSN coordinator.Mr. Griffin served as Research Director and Deputy Communications Director for the Republican National Committee (RNC) during the 2004 presidential campaign, Deputy Research Director for the RNC during the 2000 presidential campaign and as legal advisor to the 2000 Bush-Cheney Recount Team in Florida.Mr. Griffin is a member of the Arkansas and Louisiana bars. He is a cum laude graduate of both Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas, where he received his B.A., and Tulane Law School in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he received his J.D. He also attended graduate school in Modern British and European History at Pembroke College, Oxford University, in Oxford, England. Mr. Griffin was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, was raised in Magnolia, Arkansas, and now resides in Little Rock with his wife and daughter. |
