Tim Copes is president of Boeing Shared Services Group (SSG), a 10,000-person, multi-billion dollar business unit that provides common internal services across Boeing's global enterprise. Copes was named to this assignment in May 2007. He reports to the Boeing Chief Financial Officer.
Prior to joining SSG, Copes served as vice president of Technical Services for the Boeing Commercial Airplanes Commercial Aviation Services organization. In this role, he managed a broad range of products and services including freighter conversions, airplane upgrades, maintenance services, and crew information services.
Earlier, Copes served as vice president of Quality and Mission Assurance for Boeing Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) where he led the development, integration, and implementation of IDS strategies for quality and mission assurance to support IDS's broad line of defense and space products and services.
Since joining Boeing in 1992, Copes has held several leadership positions in Boeing Commercial Airplanes including assignments as director of Manufacturing for the Sonic Cruiser airplane program, and as both director of Manufacturing and director of Quality for the 777 family of products.
Prior to joining Boeing, he spent nine years with International Business Machines, where he held several management positions in Manufacturing Engineering, Program Management and Development Engineering.
Copes holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Wisconsin, and master's degrees in mechanical engineering and management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. |
