Tom joins Attune Systems with more than 25 years of engineering and management experience in both early-stage and established technology companies. Prior to joining Attune, Tom founded Frezweb.com, a Web2.0 file system technology company. Previously, he was the co-founder and VP of Engineering at NeoPath Networks, a file virtualization vendor, where he built and led the NeoPath Engineering function from the ground-up, delivering alpha, beta and two successful product launches on schedule. He has also worked in various engineering and management capacities at Ingrian Systems, Sun Microsystems, Healtheon/WebMD, Tandem Computers, and Wang Laboratories. At Ingrian Systems, Tom designed and implemented the switching software for the Ingrian Level 7 Secure Content Switch appliance. At Sun Microsystems, Tom was the project lead in the SunOS file system (ufs) group and also wrote the CDROM file system (hsfs) for SunOS and Solaris. He was also a project editor for the European Computer Manufacturers Association TC 15 committee and a project editor for the International Standards Organization SC 15 committee (ISO/IEC/JTC1/SC15). Tom wrote the European Standard (ECMA 168) and the International Standard (ISO/IEC 13490) on recordable compact disk format. In addition, he has 21 U.S. patents issued along with ten published U.S. Patent applications in the file system and computer networking areas. Tom received a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science and engineering from M.I.T. and a Master's degree in Software Engineering from the Wang Institute at Boston University. |
