Thomas Sauermilch is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Firm's New York office. Thomas is a member of the Firm's Corporate Department and co-chair of the Mergers and Acquisitions Practice Group. He also practices in the Firm's International Practice.
He has particular experience in cross-border M&A, joint ventures and related antitrust/competition matters. Recently, he has also been active in corporate governance and compliance matters(including foreign corruption practices) involving governmental investigations in multiple countries.
Thomas' transactional experience includes numerous privately negotiated transactions and acquisitions of publicly listed companies in a wide range of sectors, including aerospace and avionics, automotive industries, chemicals, energy, engineering, manufacturing, media, natural resources, packaging, semiconductor equipment, software, technology and trading. He has completed various multi-jurisdiction cross-border deals involving more than 30 countries.
He is highly recognized and recommended by Chambers US Guide as a leading M&A lawyer who is "extremely creative" in structuring deals and "getting transactions done." Thomas has also recently been recognized by Law and Politics as a Manhattan Super Lawyer in international M&A and international business.
Thomas is a member of the American Bar Association, the American Council on Germany and the International Bar Association. He is the author of various articles and has lectured on various topics in international trade and investment.
