Thomas Kleinheisterkamp is an associate in the Global Tax Department of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP. He joined Milbank in 2004 as part of the team founding Milbank's Munich office.
His practice areas comprise of all aspects of national and international tax law and related corporate law aspects. In particular, Thomas Kleinheisterkamp specializes in transactional tax advice and corporate tax law including the tax aspects of corporate restructurings. Furthermore, he advises both lenders and borrowers in all tax related areas of acquisition and corporate finance and financial institutions on tax aspects relating to a broad range of financial products like warrants and certificates.
His professional experience includes, among other things, advising 3i on the LBO and the post closing reorganization of betapharm Arzneimittel GmbH, SUSE Linux on tax related aspects in connection with its acquisition by Novell, Caterpillar regarding the acquisition of the business of Turbomach, The Carlyle Group on the acquisition and post closing reorganization of HT Troplast AG and the sale of its stake in Honsel GmbH & Co. KG to Ripplewood and its shareholding in BERU AG to BorgWarner, and HT Troplast AG on the sale of its business units Trocellen and Dynos. In addition, Thomas Kleinheisterkamp has provided ongoing tax advice for ProSiebenSat.1 and Caterpillar.
Thomas Kleinheisterkamp was born in Cologne in 1971. He received his legal education at the University of Bayreuth, where he also obtained a doctorate degree. Before joining Milbank, Thomas Kleinheisterkamp worked as a research assistant at the University of Bayreuth and was a tax associate at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in their Munich office.
