Thomas Kovacich is a senior partner in the Cerritos office and chair of the firm's construction practice. Mr. Kovacich has exclusively represented employers for over 26 years in all aspects of employment law and labor relations matters, and public agencies with respect to all aspects of public works. He has successfully defended contractors before the Department of Industrial Relations ("DIR") and in private wage and hour class action lawsuits including those relating to prevailing wage coverage and apprenticeship claims. Mr. Kovacich is considered an authority in state and federal public works, wage and hour laws, and labor relations, including NLRB elections and arbitrations and has acted as lead counsel in over 50 wage hour actions. Most recently, he successfully defeated a motion to certify a class action in a wage and hour lawsuit. He serves as counsel and on the board of directors to the Southern California Contractors Association ("SCCA"). Mr. Kovacich earned his undergraduate degree from the University of California at Irvine. He graduated with his Juris Doctor from Loyola Marymount University School of Law, and joined Atkinson, Andelson, Loya, Ruud & Romo in 1980. Mr. Kovacich is a member of the State Bar of California, the American Bar Association, including the Labor Law Section, and the Los Angeles and Orange County Bar Associations. He serves as counsel and on the board of directors to the Southern California Contractors Association (SCCA). He has lectured extensively on public works and wage and hour matters and is a contributor to various construction-related organizations' monthly periodicals. |
