Description of Practice:
Tom Henning is a partner in the firm's Los Angeles office whose practice focuses on tax law with an emphasis on tax planning, partnership formations and dissolutions, REITS, estate planning, corporate structuring and tax controversies. With over 30 years of experience in this field, he offers extensive tax knowledge to clients that range from real estate developers to multi-national companies. Mr. Henning has developed and implemented a variety of creative tax planning strategies for partnerships, individuals and corporations. Mr. Henning has also counseled investors, developers and others in forming over 250 partnerships, joint ventures and limited liability companies, including start-up ventures, commercial and resort development projects, investment funds, family limited partnerships, and creation of partnerships under U.S. and foreign law. On the dissolution side, Mr. Henning has represented partners in connection with friendly and unfriendly partnership buy-outs, dissolutions and workouts. He also provides counsel for corporate mergers, acquisitions and reorganizations for shareholders, REITs and national and multi-national companies. Mr. Henning has been an Adjunct Professor teaching Partnership Tax in the LL.M. program at Loyola Law School since 2000. He has also lectured extensively and authored numerous articles on tax planning and partnership formation. Mr. Henning has served as chair of the California State Bar Association's Tax Section Real Estate Committee and was a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association's Executive Committee and served as chair of its Foreign Tax Subsection. He has also served as chair of the Beverly Hills Bar Association Tax Section.
Educational History:
Mr. Henning graduated with a B.A. in economics from UCLA and received his J.D. from Georgetown University and an LL.M. in Taxation from New York University. |
