Thomas M. Moore received his Bachelor of Arts degree, with honors, in 1977 from the University of Notre Dame and his Juris Doctorate in 1980 from Seton Hall University, where he was a member and Associate Articles Editor of the Seton Hall University Law Review. From 1980-1981, he served as Law Secretary to The Honorable Arthur C. Dwyer, Superior Court of New Jersey, Chancery Division. He was admitted to the bars of the State of New Jersey in 1981, and the State of New York, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey and the Southern District of New York in 1987. In addition, Mr. Moore is a Certified Civil Trial Attorney, Supreme Court of New Jersey Board on Attorney Certification. He has also been named as a Super Lawyer in New Jersey for 2008.

Mr. Moore specializes in the defense of complex commercial product liability and construction matters. He has conducted trials in both Federal and State courts.

Mr. Moore has been responsible for preparing briefs and arguments to the Appellate Division and New Jersey Supreme Court on issues of the scope of liability for a remote defendant in a commercial loss (People Express Airlines, Inc. v. Consolidated Rail Corp., 100 N.J. 246, 495 A.2d 107 (1985)); preclusion of expert testimony on a sudden acceleration product liability defect claim (Ratner v. General Motors Corporation, 241 N.J. Super. 197, 574 A.2d 541 (App. Div. 1990)); propriety of service of process upon a Japanese corporation by service of documents through the mail (Gapanovich v. Komori Corporation, 255 N.J. Super. 607, 605 A.2d 1120 (App. Div. 1992)); limitation on the applicability of successor liability on product liability matters in New Jersey (Meola v. Kimberly Clark Corp., 153 N.J.L.J. 880 (App. Div. 1998)); defense of broker’s commission claim in connection with Fortune 100 Company’s corporate relocation (David T. Houston v. American Home Products Corporation, 151 N.J.L.J. 622 (App. Div. 1998)). He was also responsible for presenting and arguing successfully on the preclusion of an infant plaintiff from a trial in New York on a claim that exposure of a pregnant mother to phthalate esters caused birth deformities in her child (Monteleone v. Gestetner, 28 N.Y.L.J. 18 (Aug. 10, 1988)).

Mr. Moore has lectured and published articles on product liability which have appeared in the American Bar Association Product Liability Newsletter. Most recently, he has published an article in that publication concerning the procedure to follow when a court denies a motion for a protective order. Mr. Moore has addressed the New Jersey State Bar Association at their Annual Meeting and the Essex County Bar Association in a practice-oriented program for litigators offering continuing legal education credit. Mr. Moore has been appointed Chairman of the Essex County Bar Association Product Liability Committee since 2003.

Mr. Moore is a member of the Essex County Judicial and Prosecutorial Appointment Committee; the Essex County Bar Association, where he served as Chairman of the Committee on Equity Jurisprudence in 1988; the New Jersey State Bar Association; and the American Bar Association, where he has served as Co-Chair of the Subcommittee on Confidentiality and Protective Orders and the Product Liability Committee since 1996 and is a member of the Litigation Section.
