Thomas M. Valenzuela (4) is an Analyst/Portfolio Manager and President of W.P. Stewart & Co., Inc. Before joining W.P. Stewart & Co., Inc. in September 2007, he founded Valenzuela Capital Partners LLC (VCP), a US equity management firm specializing in large, mid and small capitalization stocks, in 1989. Tom was both the CEO and CIO from 1989 until 2005 when he sold his interest. VCP ranked in the top 30th percentile of all institutional mid cap funds from 1989 to 2000 while he was the sole portfolio manager. VCP ranked in the top quartile of all institutional small cap funds while he oversaw that strategy from 1998 to 2005. Prior to founding VCP, Mr. Valenzuela was with Lazard Freres from 1982 to 1989 where he worked in institutional research and capital markets. From 1978 to 1980 he was an analyst with Morgan Stanley in corporate finance focusing on energy. Mr. Valenzuela was born and raised in Los Angeles and graduated from Yale and holds an MBA from Harvard. He is on the board of the Robert A. Toigo Foundation which awards scholarships to leading MBA schools to talented minority students. He has spoken about the investment industry at the Milken institute and the SEC Symposium to Promote Diversity. |
