Tom Ryley joined Suncor in 1983 and is currently executive vice president, Energy Marketing and Refining - Canada.
The Energy Marketing and Refining business manages the downstream parts of Suncor’s business in Canada. This includes a fuels and chemicals refinery in Sarnia, Ontario, a retail service station network in Ontario that operates under the Sunoco brand, and Suncor Energy Marketing Inc. (SEMI).
SEMI markets and transports Suncor’s oil sands production, which has the capacity to generate 260,000 barrels per day, and is also responsible for natural gas supply and marketing. Sunoco is a $2.6-billion-revenue refining and marketing business based in Ontario, Canada, which includes the 70,000 barrel per day Sarnia refinery, and approximately 500 retail service stations.
Prior to holding this position, Tom was vice president of planning and corporate development for Suncor. He has held positions in a variety of Suncor departments, including strategic business development, planning and financial analysis, fuels and chemical marketing, supply operations, retail marketing, and government affairs.
Tom’s previous employers include the Alberta Department of Energy and Trans-Northern Pipelines Inc.
Tom holds a master’s degree in public policy and administration and is a graduate of both York University and Carleton University. He serves as a board member of Pioneer Petroleums and the Canadian Petroleum Products Institute.
He and his wife have one daughter.
