Tom focuses his practice in the health law, administrative law, commercial litigation and antitrust areas. Since joining Lindquist & Vennum he has provided antitrust counseling to numerous clients, especially in the health care sector, and represented clients in a variety of investigations and proceedings before state agencies and in class actions.Before joining Lindquist & Vennum, Tom worked for the Minnesota Attorney General's Office. As Senior Counsel to the attorney general, he was principal in-house counsel in the tobacco litigation (State by Humphrey v. Phillip Morris, et al) and headed the State antitrust division.From 1991 until 1996, Tom was deputy attorney general for the Law Enforcement Section and a member of the Attorney General Office's Executive Management Committee. As Deputy Attorney General, he supervised a staff of more than 100 attorneys, investigators, legal assistants and support staff. He oversaw the state's Antitrust, Consumer Protection, Criminal and Medicaid Fraud divisions. As an assistant attorney general, Tom represented the Minnesota Department of Commerce where he specialized in insurance and banking regulation and represented various economic development agencies.Tom is an Adjunct Professor of Administrative Law at William Mitchell College of Law. He is fluent in Spanish. |
