Dr. Shenk has served as a director of Cell Genesys since September 2001 and as a member of the company's scientific advisory board since 1997. Dr. Shenk, Elkins Professor of Molecular Biology at Princeton University and world-renowned expert in virology and gene therapy, is currently a member of Merck & Co. Inc. board of directors. He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and its Institute of Medicine, the American Academy of Microbiology, and a past president of the American Society for Virology. Dr. Shenk, who trained as a postdoctoral fellow in molecular biology at Stanford Medical Center, received his B.S. in biology from the University of Detroit and his Ph.D. in microbiology from Rutgers University. |
