Tom Evans has over 34 years of experience in the global automotive supplier industry bringing a wealth of manufacturing operations and general management expertise to Huron as a Managing Director. He most recently was a Managing Director with a major Detroit-based restructuring firm.
Professional Experience
From 1999 to 2002 Tom served as Chairman and CEO of Collins & Aikman Corporation a global $3.8 billion automotive interior systems manufacturer. Under his leadership the company more than doubled revenues through new business awards and acquisitions the largest being the global $2.3 billion Textron automotive plastics operations. Tom led the complex integration of the Textron assets along with several other smaller acquisitions while successfully rationalizing the company's global manufacturing network resulting in significant structural cost reductions and asset utilization improvements.
Tom has previously held a wide range of operational management and executive positions serving as President of Tenneco Automotive a global $3.4 billion Tier 1 automotive supplier and SVP Worldwide Operations for Case Corporation a global $5.5 billion manufacturer of heavy construction and agricultural equipment. At Tenneco Automotive Tom led initiatives which more than tripled OEM sales through six global acquisitions and numerous new business awards while successfully combining the company's diverse automotive aftermarket business into geographically integrated marketing and manufacturing platforms. At Case Corporation Tom was a primary architect of the company's extremely complex physical restructuring and comprehensive business realignment initiatives resulting in Case's highly successful IPO in 1994.
Tom's previous experience also includes management positions with Rockwell International's Automotive Operations (now ArvinMeritor) and Federal-Mogul Corporation both major Tier 1 automotive suppliers.
