A. Thomas Hood is President and Chief Executive Officer of First Financial Holdings, Inc., and President of First Federal of Charleston. He also serves on the Boards of the Holding Company and First Federal.He began his career with the Association in 1975, was named Executive Vice President of First Federal in 1984. He was elected to the Board of Directors in 1987 and was named to his current position on July 1, 1996. He graduated from the Citadel and is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant.He is involved in numerous professional and community organizations, including the Board of Directors of the Business Development Corporation of South Carolina, he serves as a member and is Treasurer of the Trident CEO Council; he serves on the Board and Executive Committee and is Chairman of the Charleston Area Chamber of Commerce; he also serves as Co-Chairman of the Board of the Charleston Education Network and as a Board member on the Boards of The Salvation Army where he is past Chairman of the Advisory Board. He is a member of the Executive Committee and past Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Trident United Way (TUW) and has served as Chairman of the Community Investments Committee for TUW. He also has previously served as a member and Chairman of the Financial Institutions Accounting Committee, a national banking trade group committee. |
