Tommy is the Founder, Chairman, CEO, and President of Emergent Technologies, Inc. (ETI). He has participated as a principal or consultant in virtually every phase of early-stage ventures and since 1999 has formed four life sciences companies from technologies licensed from The University of Oklahoma. Prior to ETI, he founded Handle Technologies, Inc., a computer software engineering firm. While at Handle, as CEO, he raised over $12,000,000 in venture capital to develop an integrated office automation system to run under the Unix operating system. In addition to being the chief architect of this system, he negotiated multi-million dollar distribution agreements with several major computer companies. Prior to Handle, he founded and later sold Mandata, Inc., a data processing company serving independent insurance agencies and Harlan - Lasater, a transportation company. Mr. Harlan is co-inventor in nine patents. He has spearheaded the development and commercialization of numerous technological innovations. He holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Southern Methodist University and an interdisciplinary master's degree in theory and research from the University of Pennsylvania. |
