Theo Walthie is business group president for Dow’s global Hydrocarbons and Energy Business and a member of the Office of the Chief Executive since August 2006.
Theo joined Dow Europe in 1970. Following a variety of positions in Sales, Technical Service, Marketing, Purchasing and Manufacturing at various Dow locations, he was named business manager for Dow Chemical Iberica in 1978. In 1982, he assumed responsibility for Dow Europe's Hydrocarbon Feedstock Supplies in Horgen, Switzerland. Theo was named business vice president for the Hydrocarbons group in 1986. In 1989, he was named vice president, Polyurethanes, Dow Europe. He took on responsibility for the Thermosets business group in 1991 and the Dow Europe Automotive group in 1992. In 1995, he was named global business vice president for Hydrocarbons and Energy, and global business president Hydrocarbons and Energy and EO/EG in 2000.
Theo has been a member of the Total Refinery Supervisory Board since 1995. In 1997, he became a member of the APPE (Association of Petrochemicals Producers Europe) Steering Committee and was elected APPE President in 1998. Theo became a Board member of CEFIC (European Chemical Industry Council) in 1999, and, in 2000, joined the CEFIC Board Executive Committee for a two-year tenure. Theo was elected in 2005 to lead the new CEFIC Program Council on Energy, Logistics and Environment, Health and Safety. In 2001 he was elected Vice President of EPCA (European Petrochemical Association). Since 2003, he has been a member of the Accenture Energy Advisory Board. He represents Dow in the Kuwaiti Joint Ventures EQUATE and MEGlobal. In January 2006, he was chosen to represent the Chemical Industry in the High Level Group on Competitiveness, Energy and the Environment of the EU Commission.
Theo holds a degree, summa cum laude, in chemical engineering from The Technical University of Delft, The Netherlands. |
