~Terry Blaney is the founder and former President and Chief Executive Officer of Consumer Credit Counseling Service of the Gulf Coast Area, Inc. (CCCS) and Money Management International. Currently, Mr. Blaney’s primary responsibilities focus on industry relations. When creditors and community leaders recognized the need for a non-profit, financial counseling and educational organization in Houston, Mr. Blaney was chosen to spearhead the effort. In 1981, after 18 years of corporate experience with Sears, Roebuck, & Co., he left Sears to become President and CEO of CCCS. CCCS became one of the largest agencies in the country, serving the Houston and Gulf Coast financial industry and consumers. It was selected to serve as a model for a similar organization in England, which opened in February of 1993. In November 1996, Mr. Blaney was elected President and CEO of Money Management International. The two credit counseling agencies, MMI and CCCS, joined forces in September 2000. Mr. Blaney was instrumental in bringing the two companies together and coordinating the merger.He is a Past Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the National Foundation for Credit Counseling, served on the Executive Board and has also served as chair of various committees including Policy and Standards and Long Range Planning. Mr. Blaney has also served on the Board of Trustees for the Association of Independent Consumer Credit Counseling Agencies (AICCCA).Mr. Blaney earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Phillips University in 1965. He has also successfully completed the Advanced Management Institute through Rice University’s Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Administration, Office of Executive Development. |
