Terri Nield is an artist, designer and has worked as a high school teacher in art and English for the past 13 years. A graduate of UCLA, she received her California teaching credentials from Cal State Northridge and now serves as a Master Teacher for their Accelerated Credential Program. She has worked with a wide range of students, from at-risk teens and special education to gifted students, and coached the Academic Decathlon team for 3 years. Basing her instruction on studio experiences in art history, multicultural forms of expression and instructional methods that are based on right and left brain research, she believes that everyone can enjoy access to art and artistic expression. Her students have participated in LA’s Museum of Contemporary Art outreach programs, won contests and awards for their work, and exhibited at local museums and galleries. She is a regular attendee at both state and national conventions and local programs at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, following the latest theories and practices in education. Currently teaching in a Los Angeles digital high school, she is an active advocate for arts-based education, visual literacy and promoting the use of technology in education. |
