Terrence Holt Biography :

Signed a five-year contract with the Cardinals on 3/8/07 after spending the first four seasons of his career with the Lions, who selected him in the fifth round of the 2003 Draft.

Is reunited with Cardinals all-pro safety Adrian Wilson, his former teammate and roommate at North Carolina State.

Is the younger brother of St. Louis Rams wide receiver and NFC West rival Torry Holt.

Pro Career:

Signed by the Cardinals on 3/8/07 as an unrestricted free agent; originally drafted by the Detroit Lions in the fifth round (137th overall) of the 2003 draft. Started 15 games in 2006 for the Lions at free safety and collected a career high 76 tackles (51 solos), three interceptions, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. The younger brother of St. Louis Rams wide receiver Torry Holt, Terrence started 10 games in 2005, his first season as the starter at free safety, until an elbow injury forced him to injured reserve. In those 10 starts he collected 44 tackles (34 solos), two interceptions and six passes defensed.

2006: Recorded 76 tackles (51 solo) in 15 starts on the season, both new career single-season highs tied linebacker Ernie Sims for a game-high 10 tackles vs. Sea (9/10) did not start @ Min (10/8) due to a back injury, but did see limited time, making two solo tackles collected his sixth career interception when he picked off a J.P. Losman pass vs. Buf (10/15) and returned it seven yards while also contributing two tackles ... tied a season and career best @ NYJ (10/22) with 10 tackles; also collected 0.5 sacks and had his second-straight game with an interception after picking off Chad Pennington for the third time in the season, tied his career-best with 10 tackles vs. SF (11/12), along with one pass defensed recorded his third interception of the season vs. Mia (11/23) when he stepped in front of a Joey Harrington pass; also adding six solo tackles made three tackles and had one fumble recovery @ NE (12/3).

2005: Recorded a key interception off Brett Favre during the final drive to prevent the Packers from scoring @ GB (9/11) had a single game best two passes defensed @ Chi (9/18) tied that single game best at TB (10/2) recorded his second interception of the season, off of Brian Griese, and returned it 51 yards @ TB (10/2), setting up a Jason Hanson field goal tallied a fumble recovery, returning it 34 yards, a forced fumble and one pass defensed vs. Car (10/16).

2004: Finished third on the team with 17 special teams tackles made a first-down saving tackle on a fake field goal attempt from Detroit’s 12-yard line @ Atl (10/10) to help preserve a 14-7 Lions halftime lead notched a career-high three special teams stops vs. Ari (12/5) forced his first-career fumble and tallied a season-high-matching three tackles vs. Min (12/19).

2003: Three interceptions tied for the second-most among NFL rookies and the most by a Lions’ rookie since Devon Mitchell had five in 1986 saw his first career action on defense at cornerback vs. Oak (11/2) and responded with four tackles, a pass defense and a game-sealing interception of Rick Mirer that he returned 30 yards recorded the first fumble recovery of his career vs. GB (11/27) which led to Jason Hanson’s game-winning field goal.

College:

In his N.C. State career recorded 315 tackles (195 solo) with 11 stops behind the line of scrimmage, five forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, 20 pass deflections and five interceptions while starting 37-of-48 games named All-American second-team selection by The NFL Draft Report, College Football News and the Associated Press as a senior as well as All-Atlantic Coast Conference first-team, a semifinalist for the Thorpe Award (nation’s top defensive back) and finalist for the Mosi Tatupu Award (nation’s top special teams performer), as he was regarded as the premier kick blocker in the nation (13 for his career) team defensive MVP after starting all year at free safety finished with 100 tackles (67 solo) and four blocked kicks as a junior in 2001, was named an All-Atlantic Coast Conference first-team pick, winner of the school’s Mike Hardy Award, given to the player who demonstrates a winning attitude, recipient of the team’s Defensive Leadership Award and named the Wolfpack’s Most Outstanding Player after starting every game at free safety blocked four field goals in 2001, tying the NCAA season-record set by Hawaii’s Mike Akiu in 1982.

Personal:

Full name Terrence Daquay Holt three-year all-conference and all-region defensive back at East Guilford (NC) High as a senior, helped lead his squad to an 8-3 record, East Guilford’s best mark in 20 years named conference player of the year in basketball as a junior, and was also the regional player of the year as a junior and senior, and the Guilford County Player of the Year as a senior three-time all-conference, all-region and All-Guilford performer in basketball scored 1,786 career points on the hardwood, breaking the school record that had been held by his older brother Torry and also set the school record for most points in a single game with 46.
