Terrance S. Maguire Assistant Director, Digital Forensics Terrance S. Maguire is responsible for conducting digital forensic acquisitions and analyses on hundreds of laptops, desktops, servers, PDAs, and cell phones in civil litigations, criminal and internal investigations, and computer incident response matters. Mr. Maguire conducts computer security reviews, and also handles the preservation, processing, and production of data in electronic discovery projects, including establishing mobile electronic discovery processing capabilities in EU countries. Mr. Maguire has nearly twenty years of experience in physical and digital forensic investigations, has developed and led training programs in varied areas of law enforcement and digital evidence, and has significant experience implementing counterintelligence intrusion and detection programs. He spent the early days of his career as a police officer at the Chesterfield County Police Department in Chesterfield , VA. While a law enforcement officer, he investigated, collected, evaluated, and processed evidence from crime scenes, prepared comprehensive case reports, and trained department personnel in forensic techniques. At the Virginia Division of Forensic Science and the U.S. Department of Defense Computer Investigations Training Program (DCITP), Mr. Maguire developed and presented a broad range of instruction to federal, state and local law enforcement on topics such as computer search and seizure, incident response, digital evidence, crime scene technology, computer forensic examinations, and intrusion investigations. He was a Forensic Scientist for the Virginia Division of Forensic Science, where he was the Principal Instructor at the Forensic Science Academy for eight consecutive sessions. Mr. Maguire subsequently became a senior-level Forensic Computer Analyst for the U.S. State Department, where he was responsible for supervising the State Department Computer Forensic Lab s Network Analysis Section. As a cyber operations specialist for the Department of Defense, Mr. Maguire implemented network surveillance, network packet analysis, wireless surveys, and intrusion detection. He also developed an expertise in recovering steganographic data. Mr. Maguire received an M.S. in Communication Technology from Strayer University and a B.S. in Chemistry from James Madison University . Mr. Maguire has also lectured widely in the fields of physical and digital forensics, including at the Virginia Forensic Science Academy and the Department of Defense Computer Investigative Training Program. He is an EnCase Certified Forensic Examiner as well as a Certified Steganography Examiner. He was admitted as an expert witness in the Virginia Circuit Courts regarding the results of physical forensic examinations, is trained and qualified as an ASCLD/LAB inspector in digital physical evidence, and is a member of the Virginia Forensic Science Academy Alumni Association
