Terry is an Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) of the American Society of Appraisers (also ASA), a Certified Public Accountant and cofounder of Empire Valuation Consultants, LLC. He has over twenty-five years of accounting, corporate finance and business valuation experience. He spent six years in public accounting where he performed corporate audits, tax planning and other corporate financial services.
Terry was the founder and manager of the Business Valuation Department of the Chase Lincoln First Bank, in Rochester, New York from 1983 to 1988.
He has been involved in the valuation of a wide range of companies for many purposes, including estate and gift taxes, recapitalizations, buy-sell agreements, equitable distributions, mergers & acquisitions, employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs), fairness opinions, insolvency opinions in debt restructuring, and valuations of debt securities. His background also includes the valuation of various intangible assets, intellectual properties, covenants-not-to-compete, and franchise agreements.
Terry has testified as an expert witness on valuation matters in various State Supreme Courts, Bankruptcy Court and before the New York State Public Service Commission. Terry has held many local, regional & national offices with the ASA. He has been a member of the ASA International Board of Examiners for over ten years and he is the Vice Chairman for its Business Valuation section. In 1999, Terry was elected to the ASA’s National Business Valuation Committee. Terry has also held every officer postion for the ASA’s Western New York Chapter.
Terry is a Member Consultant of the National Center for Employee Ownership, a Member of the Panel of Arbitrators of the American Arbitration Association, and a Member of the ESOP Association. He is also a member of the ESOP Association’s National Valuation Advisory Committee and a diplomate member of The American Board of Forensic Accounting. In addition, he has lectured to numerous business and professional groups on a broad range of valuation topics.
Terry holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration from Alfred University and an M.B.A. degree in Business Administration from the University of Rochester’s William E. Simon Graduate School of Business Administration. |
