Ted Hengst is president of Harris Information Technology Services (Harris IT Services), reporting to the group president of Government Communications Systems. Mr. Hengst is responsible for leading all aspects of Harris IT Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of Harris Corporation and an industry leader in providing information technology services to the U.S. Government. He is also responsible for working closely with our division leadership teams, key staff members, and customers to shape Harris IT Services’ growth strategies going forward.
Before joining Harris, Mr. Hengst served as senior vice president, Army Solutions, for General Dynamics in Fairfax, Virginia. In this role he was responsible for the daily operations and integration activities of a $1 billion newly created business division. Prior to this assignment, he was vice president and general manager for Army and Civil Solutions a $600 million business where he led the capture of programs such as TEIS, ITES-2S, and DHS-EAGLE. Before taking the position at General Dynamics, Mr. Hengst served in the U.S. Army, retiring with the rank of colonel in 2002. His last assignment was as Chief Information Officer (CIO) and J6 at U.S. Special Operations Command at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida. As CIO, Mr. Hengst was responsible for planning, funding, and execution of all phases of information, computing, and communications resources for a 46,000-person command.
Mr. Hengst earned a B.S. in engineering from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and an M.S. in management information systems from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California.
