Sven Sandstrom has been a Director of AES since October 2002. He is a former Managing Director of the World Bank where he worked from 1972 to 2002. He received an M.B.A. from the Stockholm School of Economics and a Dr. Sc. from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. He is a member of the Governing Council and Treasurer of the World Conservation Union (IUCN) and chairs funding negotiations for the African Development Bank and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria. Mr. Sandstrom serves on the Financial Audit Committee and the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee of the Board. He has been designated an Audit Committee Financial Expert pursuant to Section 407 of the Sarbanes Oxley Act. The Board has determined that Mr. Sandstrom meets the standards of independence established by the NYSE and the Sarbanes Oxley Act. |
